On the table to quilt

This lap quilt that I call Modern Birds is a nice fall color and is waiting to be finished.
And I should probably show you the previous project of curved blocks with the border I have planned. The project is stalled for now as I will be showing it next week when I demo the quick curve ruler to my guild for Demo Day.

you get the idea

What's New? - not me

Still trying to get the quilter to work right so I will post some other things going on.

Deb and I shared at the Guild Program this week. Here is her quilt from our stepmom Jan that tells the story of Deb's family. It is a king size beauty filled with awesome details.
Then Deb showed her finished Christmas bird quilt top that I really adore. This pic doesn't do it justice.

That is her show and tell except for the Sew Simplicity BOM which I will share later along with mine.

All the blocks are done!

I've made some different blocks and chose final ones for my quilt top.
This shows the choice of sashing and border fabrics.
Am ready to finish sewing the top together for the final quilt.

Pics help me design

Finished all my six Curve It Up blocks and ready to border. I am finding that photos help me decide block layouts as I am able to see options and mill it over by accessing the camera shots. On the PC they can be viewed in black n white too for contrast, and so on.
I wasn't happy with the last three blocks' color choices but they work and after all it is a scrappy 'old and new' fabrics work. This is another layout. I'm still deciding. Input welcome.

oh, the last three blocks are the center, center left, and bottom left. Curvy Geese, Churn Dash and Drunkard's Path.

Side Tracked Now it is Sew Done!

from the curvy quilt blocks to throw together this girly diagonal block quilt
Borders ?
I though of soft yellow then the blue. Deb P. thinks pink and perhaps in a ruffle. What's your idea?

6 of 12 blocks done This new month

Now I have three more blocks picked out to do on the Curve It Up Quilt by Sew Wonderful.
I have stopped momentarily to just get something else completed. It is a child's quilt of diagonal blocks and the top is done except for a border. Any ideas?

oops - picture coming soon.

Curved but Wonky Spools

I rushed these curvy spools and can tell. I should stop when I'm tired and pick up again later. Originally I wanted to use just half the block and do a row of spools around the quilt, but honestly they look better as a 4 set block.

I've caught crochet fever so rethinking some quilt projects. Need to do some actual quilting of a few ready sandwiches.

Note to self  - -  Use solid fabrics only in a quilt.  Finish my fun Fancy Foxes  - lap size from Elizabeth Hartman pattern (so I can buy and make her hedgehogs!).  Thread colors in different designs on solid white muslin.  Start Christmas gifts like the rag squares diagonal quilt for a little girl. So I only have five other quilt projects going on. That's still less than my crocheting which I need to start posting again on Pinterest as they are finished. Had fun designing a couple quilt patterns this weekend - hints - 1) mom's apron, 2) my life in an hourglass. Hope to learn more about making my blog better. I'm impressed by and enjoy others though. Similar souls out there who I'd like to know better. Smiles for now.

next square to do is the Nine Patch with the curve ruler. I like doing these with older or scrappy fabrics so I can see what I like and how to do it different next time. Other color and contrast choices.

using the quick curve ruler

I've started blogging mainly because I want to get in on the blog hops and linky parties I am seeing. This push resulted from my big interest in the Sew Kind of Wonderful website with showcases patterns using the Quick Curve Ruler or QCR. So as I continue to make blocks from this I will post.
Are you doing any "quilting lately"?
